The day after an Atkinson County woman allegedly attacked her husband with a machete, Senie Benefield Jr., 30, of Douglas, allegedly also injured someone in Coffee County with a machete. The incident happened on May 28, 2024, on Second Avenue in the Oak Park community. Dustin Jordan of Douglas has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened on Highway 135 across from Optima Chemical on Friday, February 8, 2019. Early that morning, Jordan struck and killed John Aubrey Pond, 28, of Willacoochee, and did not stop after the accident happened. A Douglas woman has been arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine after a vehicle in which she was riding was stopped and searched in Triggs County, Kentucky. According to a story posted on wkdzradio.com, Candice Kirkland, 22, of Douglas, was riding in a vehicle with Jamison Kassinger, 24, of Cadiz, Kentucky, when a Trigg County deputy stopped their vehicle Sunday afternoon. The report says that the officer stopped Kassinger for driving with a suspended license. According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, a deputy with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office transported Shasmine Sirmans, 22, of Douglas, to CRMC, on May 27, 2024.
