A few weeks ago, a Walmart employee was arrested and charged with 10 counts of theft by shoplifting along with possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and possession of drug related objects. According to a Douglas Police Department incident report, Christina Griffin, 47, of Blackshear, was arrested on June 7 when Walmart’s loss prevention officer reported to the DPD that Griffin had allegedly stolen $595.31 worth of merchandise over the previous 10 days. The officer had receipts listing the merchandise along with the amounts. Additionally, he had video footage of Griffin allegedly scanning one item…

On June 28, 2023 around 6:20 a.m., the area of South Gaskin Avenue and Pinecrest Drive erupted in gunfire, according to a press release from the Douglas Police Department The release states that officers were dispatched to the area of South Gaskin Avenue and Pinecrest Drive in reference to shots being fired. Upon the arrival, officers determined that a residence and a vehicle had been shot multiple times. The residence that sustained gunfire damage contained several individuals inside and one person outside the residence at the time of the shooting. Officers collected statements and evidence near…

On the morning of Thursday, June 22, 2023, a deputy responded to a local cargo plant where a Fitzgerald man allegedly took his eight-month-old son from the boy’s mother and her boyfriend at gunpoint. A sheriff’s office report says that the officer responded to a kidnapping and aggravated assault call at Titanium Cargo shortly after 10 a.m. on June 22.
