Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is leading the NFL in receiving yards and is on pace for a record-setting season. Six games in, Hill has 42 receptions for 814 yards and six touchdowns. He’s averaging over 135 yards per game, which has him on pace to amass over 2,300 yards for the season if his production continues at this level. In the pre-dawn hours Saturday morning, officers investigated a fatal side-by-side accident on Highway 32 in Nicholls. The crash took place in front of Xtreme Cargo Trailers (the old Streat’s Coat Factory building). The side-by-side, a Polaris Ranger with two people aboard, reportedly lost control and flipped over. One of the occupants, Patrick Early Davis, 35, was ejected and suffered visible but non-life threatening injuries. The other occupant was trapped underneath the Ranger and did not survive the crash. Both were from Ware County. During the accident investigation, officers discovered a felony amount of marijuana at the scene.…

On Monday, October, 9, 2023 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Jeff Davis County deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle for a traffic violation. The motorist refused to yield and led officers on a five-county chase with speeds of up to 130 mph. According to a press release from the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office and Griffin Police Department, a 17-year-old is in custody on murder charges following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old after a September 30 high school football game. The shooting took place down the street from the stadium following the Griffin High-Spalding County High football game on September 30. The Coffee Trojan’s 62-6 win over the Bradwell Institute Tigers Friday night was the largest margin of victory in a region game in program history. The 56-point win eclipsed the previous region record of 54 points, which came on November 5, 1982, against Glynn Academy. The Trojans shut out Glynn Academy 54-0 that night. Douglas resident Michael Wayne Stull, 57, was allegedly shot and killed by his son, Nicholas Maquis Stull, 25, in Olney, Maryland, on Saturday night. After the alleged shooting, Nicholas Stull turned the gun on himself but survived. Olney is located in the northern portion of Montgomery County, Maryland, about 10 miles north of Washington, D.C. Michael Stull worked in the city’s Customer Care department at City Hall. According to City Manager Charlie Davis, City Hall will be closed on Monday, October 9, 2023, to mourn Stull’s death. Fussell Marion Chalker, former principal of Douglas High School, built the small cottage-like home on 504 North Gaskin Avenue in 1932. The home was sold in 1944 to J.N. Officers from the Broxton Police Department have made another arrest in connection with the vandalism of the Barney Fife mural on Highway 441 just north of town. On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, officers arrested Ijayous Smith, 18, of Broxton, and charged him with criminal damage to property for allegedly vandalizing the mural. Smith is the second suspect arrested in the case. Earlier in September, Kayson Smalley, 18, was arrested and also charged with criminal damage to property.
