A Douglas man was arrested on several charges related to a hit and run accident that occurred around 2:20 a.m. on May 14. According to the accident report from the Douglas Police Department, Sedarrien Smith was driving south in a silver 2010 Dodge Ram pickup on North Peterson Avenue when he allegedly ran the red light at North Peterson and East Ward Street. Three juveniles have been arrested after allegedly robbing people who thought they were meeting to buy an iPhone. A 16-year-old and a 13-year-old were also charged with firearms charges. According to a press release posted on the Douglas Police Department’s Facebook page, last month, the Douglas Police Department received several reports of individuals being robbed. The suspect in these cases would list an iPhone for sale on the Facebook Marketplace. When contacted by a potential victim, the suspect would give a location for the transaction to take place. According to the incident report, on May 8, a deputy noticed Thompson, 33, driving a vehicle and knew that Thompson had a suspended license. The officer stopped Thompson at Bowens Mill Road SE and Brantley Boulevard. Thompson was out on bond for a burglary charge and the officer suspected that he was also involved in the methamphetamine trade.
