A Douglas police officer arrested Roderick Gaskin, 50, on drug charges during a traffic stop. Gaskin was riding a bicycle at the time. The incident report states that a corporal with the DPD saw Gaskin headed west in the eastbound lane of East Baker Highway. The officer attempted to stop Gaskin by hitting his blue lights. A man who allegedly shot multiple people 11 years ago at a Coffee County Mobile Home Park is still on the run. David Rios, aka Benjamin Mora Tinajero, aka Angel Mora Miguel, is on Coffee County’s Most Wanted List for three counts of aggravated assault with a gun, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime. According to the incident report, on May 8, a deputy noticed Thompson, 33, driving a vehicle and knew that Thompson had a suspended license. The officer stopped Thompson at Bowens Mill Road SE and Brantley Boulevard. Thompson was out on bond for a burglary charge and the officer suspected that he was also involved in the methamphetamine trade. Former NBA player and Douglas native Aaron Swinson visited City Hall on Friday, May 12, 2023. Isaac Swinson, a city code enforcement officer, is Aaron’s brother. Aaron stopped by City Hall to surprise his brother and visit with city staff. Aaron attended Brunswick High School and played at Auburn before landing with the Phoenix Suns. He played with Phoenix during the 1994-1995 season, playing in nine games and averaging 2.7 points, .9 rebounds, and .3 assists per game.
