An old Burger King slogan states “Sometimes, you gotta break the rules.” Two employees apparently took that a little too seriously a little over a week ago when the allegedly took pictures of a customer’s credit card at the drive-through then used the card information to attempt to make nine purchases totaling $1,303. As a result of the investigation, Zyikieus Tashun Riles, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested on multiple charges. A 38-year-old convicted felon from Pearson was arrested and jailed after officers found a gun in his vehicle during a traffic stop. On the way to the Coffee County Jail, he allegedly left a small amount of marijuana in the back seat of the patrol car. On May 22 around 2 a.m., a Douglas police officer noticed a white Ford Ranger traveling in the city with a tag light that wasn’t working. A fight inside a moving vehicle led to a variety of charges, including battery and illegal drug charges. According to an incident report obtained from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, a detective saw a man and a woman fighting inside a vehicle traveling on Bowens Mill Road on May 11. On May 15, officers from the Coffee County Drug Unit caught a suspect attempting to flush illegal drugs down the toilet while serving a warrant. An incident report from the sheriff’s office states that while serving the warrant on Wright, the officers found him flushing marijuana and cocaine down the toilet. They also found an additional quantity of suspected cocaine and a suspected oxycodone tablet in the bathroom as well as digital scales.
