Members of the Waycross Rotary Club made a $500 donation March 3 to the men’s basketball program at South Georgia State College following the Hawks’ GCAA quarterfinal game against Central Georgia Tech. Wiregrass hosts Educational Ministries dinner Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently hosted a dinner for local ministers. Members of the college’s Christian Fellowship student organization, along with faculty and staff, held the dinner to share with the local ministers the educational opportunities offered at Wiregrass. Faculty and staff shared how one would enroll, the requirements, what to expect and more. Lucille Wooten, age 84, of Broxton, GA passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness. Satilla Elementary School is excited to announce that on Friday, April 17, at 12 p.m., our students and staff will be attempting to break the Guinness Record for most people simultaneously playing hopscotch. This will be an official attempt at the record, approved by The Guinness Organization. In the first conference game of the season, the South Georgia State College Hawks won 8-2 against Georgia Highlands College in Tuesday’s game in Emerson. Brooks Calvo struck out six batters, helping the Hawks earn and retain their lead. The Hawks totaled 13 hits, including three extra base hits and one home run by Steve McLeod in the second inning.
