The City of Douglas, Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, and the Coffee County Commission are proud to announce the Grand Marshal for the 51st Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade. Douglas industry, Southwire, will be the Grand Marshal for the parade, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Coffee County Courthouse on December 6. “Southwire was chosen because of their many community outreach and generous donations to local charities,” says City Manager Terrell Jacobs. Mrs. Betty Frances Clary, age 85, of Douglas, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Clary was born on January 22, 1928, in Monroe, NC to the late Frank McCoy Fite and Ruby Smith Fite. The South Georgia State College Hawks extended their winning streak to four games Tuesday night by defeating the Faith Baptist Prep Academy Crusaders, 110-61. The Hawks (4-0) were led by Jovante’ Spivey’s complete game of 23 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Cody Helgeland finished with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, and DeAundray Rhett had 14 points and five rebounds.
