Mr. Jackie Morgan, age 73 of Douglas, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Morgan was born November 20, 1940, to the late Jacob Ponder Morgan and the late Nellie Burch Morgan. Mr. Morgan, a native of Broxton, Coffee County, had lived in the Douglas area for several years. He was a retired Dredge Captain for about 40 years before his retirement. To spread the news of Douglas’ much anticipated compressed natural gas fueling station, the City of Douglas participated as an exhibitor at the annual Georgia Municipal Association Convention held in Savannah, Georgia, June 21 and 22. “We experienced a very positive response to our booth,” says Mike Hudson, Gas/Water/Wastewater Director. “At the convention, we educated other city officials about Douglas’ CNG fueling station that will open in October this year. Mrs. Eulane Dorminey Meeks, age 93 of Douglas, passed away late Friday afternoon, June 20, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. On June 14 and 15, the Southern Elite 11U baseball team won the 2014 USSSA South State Tournament after rallying from three losses on Saturday to run the table on Sunday for the win. “We didn’t play well our first two games on Saturday.
