The City of Douglas would like to encourage citizens to practice safety with fireworks and would like to make the public aware of the city ordinance regarding fireworks. Fireworks can be used during the hours of 10 am and 9:00 pm. On July 3 and 4, fireworks can be used for an extended time from 9:00 p.m.-11:59 p.m. It is illegal to use any fireworks indoors. It is unlawful to ignite fireworks within or on a roadway, city/county property, or within 100 yards of a hospital or nursing home. Persons must be at least 18 years of age to purchase,…

MUSM selected current medical students for the scholarship based on their commitment to become pediatricians, strong ties to rural Georgia, character, leadership qualities, community involvement, and their commitment to serving in rural Georgia after their scholarship obligations are met. The Douglas-Coffee County Board of Realtors has received two Placemaking grants from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) totaling $10,500 to help transform unused space in the Downtown Pocket Park. The grant was designed by NAR to ensure local realtor associations are partnering with other neighboring organizations to plan, organize, implement, and maintain lighter, quicker, cheaper placemaking projects in their communities. The grant funds will be used towards assisting with the second phase of the Downtown Pocket Park.
