A high school umpire as well as a couple of people from Coffee County were among several individuals who were arrested on various drug charges in Jeff Davis County this week. On Sunday, May 14, 2023, Hazlehurst law enforcement and emergency services responded to a residence reference to overdose. Emergency services arrived to a non-responsive male in the kitchen of a home. He was transported to the ER where he was given Narcan several times before responding. On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, a group of local and state leaders gathered at the Coffee County Board of Education to discuss the Aviation and Aerospace Eco-System Initiative. Cory Baldwin, head men’s basketball coach at South Georgia State College (SGSC), will host his 13th annual Baldwin’s Ballers Basketball Camp this summer. Assistant coach D.J. Hardy will serve as camp coordinator. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-15. Four-day sessions are scheduled for the weeks of June 12, 26, and July 17 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on SGSC’s Waycross Campus. There will be one session the week of July 24 on SGSC’s Douglas Campus.
