Ms. Grace Allene Adams Boggan, age 90 of Douglas, passed away early Saturday morning, March 25, 2023 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Ms. Boggan was born March 16, 1933 to the late Robert Lee Adams and the late Sadie Ethel Graham Adams. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Dyer Boggan II; 2 Sons: James Charles Myers, III and Cecil Dyer Boggan, III and 1 Granddaughter: Sheri Melissa Myers Rawlins. Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has joined other area hospitals, healthcare organizations, and the LifeLink Foundation to create a donation-friendly community through the Hospital Organ Donation Campaign. This national initiative is sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This initiative challenges healthcare organizations to educate employees, patients, visitors, and the community about the crucial need for organ, eye, and tissue donation and give them opportunities to sign up as donors. The City of Douglas will hold two open house dates for the public to view renovations of Barracks #5 located at Douglas Municipal Gene Chambers Airport on April 13 (1PM-4PM) and April 26, 2023 (9AM-1PM). The building, Barracks #5, is a part of the historic World War II Army-Air Force Flight Training Air Base and was utilized as housing for the cadets that trained at the Air Base before transferring to other bases to advance their flight training. Since fall semester of 2019, South Georgia State College has been offering a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education. This program was made possible through a partnership with the University of North Georgia (UNG). During this time, the partnership has provided SGSC the ability to graduate and produce 42 high quality new teachers for our local school systems.
