The Douglas Mayor’s Youth Council (DMYC) held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 6pm. Allison Bramlett, the Associate Pastor from Covenant Christian Church, provided inspirational opening comments and prayer. The Youth Council Jr. Commissioner Zynia Hunt was chosen as the Youth Spotlight for November. Zynia’s parents are Melody Henderson and Mackenzie Hunt. She is a freshman at the George Washington Carver Freshman Campus where she in enrolled in gifted/honor classes. The Coffee Trojan wrestling team finished with an impressive 8-1 record at the Jeff Davis Duals tournament over the weekend, placing 2nd out of 26 teams. On Thursday, November 10, the Coffee County School System was proud to participate in the ninth annual REACH Georgia Signing Ceremony on the campus of Coffee Middle School. Five new REACH Scholars were selected for this great opportunity and have committed to meeting the requirements of the REACH Georgia Program. This selection will enable students to attend a HOPE-eligible post-secondary institution in Georgia, thanks to REACH. Parade officials are releasing the rules, regulations, and important information regarding the annual Festival of Lights Christmas parade. The primary mission of the parade is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and quality family environment in and on the streets of Douglas. In order to do so, the following rules and regulations are asked to be followed. All entries (no exceptions) must have an entry form on file at the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce at 114 North Peterson Avenue in order to participate in the parade.
