The South Georgia State College Hawks picked up their seventh win of the regular season Thursday night, defeating Edward Waters College’s junior varsity team, 87-36. The Hawks (7-2) led 15-3 towards the midway point of the first half then outscored Edward Waters 39-13 to take a 54-16 lead into the halftime locker room. Ida Mae Sports, 93, passed away November 29, 2021. She was born in 1928 in Coffee County and lived in Claxton most of her life. Ida Mae loved gardening and playing canasta. She was a member of the Claxton First United Methodist Church and Service Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Wesleyan Fellowship Group and a dedicated “Kitchen Disciple,” making sure families received meals after funerals in the church social hall.
