On Sunday, October 17, 2021, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office received a request from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation. On Sunday, October 17, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Hwy. 158, Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia, in reference to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found Joshua Lee Williams, 35, of Lacanto, FL, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Coastal Georgia Violent Gang Task Force met with several agencies last Thursday and Friday to recognize members of certain agencies for their participation and assistance in one of the largest and most successful gang cases in the Southern District of Georgia and the United States in recent years. The Coffee County Drug Unit announces the following recent drug-related arrests: Sept. 27 – A concerned citizen contacted law enforcement about a suspicious vehicle in a local neighborhood. Coffee County deputies responded, along with the Coffee County Drug Unit, to investigate further. As a result of the investigation, the driver, identified as Hal Donald Griffin, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
