Mr. Walter Allen Busby, age 75 of Douglas, passed away late Thursday afternoon, June 3, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Busby was born, May 16, 1946 to the late David Preston Busby and the late Edith Troop Busby. Mr. Busby, a native of Douglas, GA was a heavy equipment operator with CSX Railroad. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Southview Church of God. The match was held at the Forest City Gun Club. Coffee 4-H had two senior 4-H teams (grade 9-12) to compete in the match. Teams can be composed of three to four members. Team members included Alex Dunn, Gavin Grantham, Cara Lott, Hudson Lott, Drew Purvis, Michael Roberts, and Weston Vickers. Family members and friends gathered in the Wellness Center gymnasium to cheer on a portion of the 446 SGSC graduates from summer and fall 2020 and spring 2021. The South Georgia State College Phi Theta Kappa chapters, Kappa Sigma and Alpha Rho Omega, were honored with a host of awards at the honor society’s virtual international convention, Catalyst, during spring semester.
