Former Coffee High head football coach Jim Keith, age 74, of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home. He served as the Trojans’ head coach from 1995-1997, where he compiled an overall record of 14-16. Jim was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1947 to Austin and Mamie Keith. He worked closely with his grandfather, Mr. L.B. Keith, his father, and Uncle Doc at Keith’s Shoe Shop. South Georgia State College will usher in a new academic year Monday, August 9, 2021, with Faculty and Staff Convocation. The opening ceremony welcomes new and returning employees to the college community and marks the official launch of the fall semester. Convocation activities will take place all week for faculty and staff. The Community Foundation of Coffee County (CFCC) has announced that it is accepting grant applications from now Aug. 15, 2022, at noon. A total of $10,000 is available to support 2022 grants. Organizations that receive a grant are encouraged to use this grant in applying for matching funds to maximize the funding potential for their program or project.
