Wiregrass is offering evening programs for Fall Semester, classes start August 19. The college is hosting Free Application Week on all campuses June 14-18, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday. The campuses are closed on Friday, but applicants may still apply online and save money that day. Any new student who applies in person during the week of June 14 will have their application fee waived. This summer eight students from Coffee Middle School attended a Summer Leadership Camp (SLC) at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington on the banks of Lake Jackson. Summer Leadership Camp is open to FFA and FCCLA students from all over the state of Georgia. Kevin Tatum, County Extension Coordinator The Coffee County 4-H Shotgun team traveled to Savannah for the weekend of May 28-30 to compete in the Georgia 4-H Trap, Skeet, and Sport Clays Match. The match was held at the Forest City Gun Club. Coffee 4-H had two senior 4-H teams (grade 9-12) to compete in the match. Teams can be composed of three to four members. Team members included Alex Dunn, Gavin Grantham, Cara Lott, Hudson Lott, Drew Purvis, Michael Roberts, and Weston Vickers. Since 2018, GDNR, Georgia Southern University and the U.S. Geological Survey have been working to assess and remove what is considered a wild population of Argentine black and white tegus in Tattnall and Toombs counties. Mrs. Nancy Ruth Morey McConnell, age 92 of Douglas, passed away Saturday morning, May 29, 2021 at her residence following an extended illness.
