James is the Optical Manager at Southern Eye Center in Valdosta and is a graduate of the Opticianry program at Wiregrass Tech. Georgia Power has donated $10,000 to Wiregrass Georgia Technical College to support the College’s Mechatronics, a pre-engineering program. Georgia Power made this outstanding donation to the program that is offered as a Degree, Diploma, and Certificates. Students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program are also able to take this program while in high school and earn college credit for free. The Georgia Department of Transportation Aviation Services conducted a Georgia Statewide Airport Economic Impact Study in 2019 and recently released a video entitled Georgia Airports Mean Business. Douglas Municipal Gene Chambers Airport is featured as one of the 103 local airports, which contribute $73.7 billion in annual economic benefit to the state and support 450,500 jobs with a total annual payroll estimated at $20 billion. Douglas airport has come a long way since starting as an aviation school in 1928. Douglas Municipal Airport has a total economic impact of $11,053,000. Created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, the DAISY Foundation honors nurses internationally. Mr. Barnes’s family was positively impacted by the nurses who skillfully and compassionately cared for Patrick during his eight-week hospitalization for a critical illness. Unfortunately, Mr. Barnes did not survive his illness; however, the nursing care he received when hospitalized profoundly touched his family. The Barnes family wanted a way to honor Patrick and chose to recognize nurses everywhere for their dedication. Margie Dean Grady Moore was born July 28, 1958 in Coffee County to the late Charles and Rosa B. Grady. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. Margie was employed with Campbell’s Soup Company for many years. She was later employed at Pilgrim’s Pride. Her loving, nurturing, and generous spirit touched everyone that knew her.
