Recently, a small business workshop was held for George Washington Carver Shopping Center and Paulk Plaza business owners. On Friday, October 9, 2020, the City of Douglas Utilities Department held a ribbon cutting for the new Douglas Utilities and Public Works buildings. The ribbon cutting was held in conjunction with Public Power Week, Georgia Cities Week, and as the kick-off event for Douglas’ 125th birthday celebration that is coming up in December. “Providing a location that is large enough for all these departments will create workspace that will provide greater centralized operations and more efficiency for these departments,” says Mayor Tony Paulk. The Lady Trojans wrapped up their regular season with a pair of wins against Cook County 1-0 and third ranked Jeff Davis 3-1. Christy Knight, a registered nurse in Coffee Regional Medical Center’s Labor & Delivery Unit, was named the DAISY winner for the first quarter of 2020. CRMC staff presented her with the award at a ceremony held on Oct. 7. Following a brief investigation, on October 6, 2020, the Coffee County Drug Unit served a search warrant at 199 Elm Street in Douglas. As a result of the search warrant, James Major Nolan, 37, from Douglas and Denzel Akeem Pace, 26, from Douglas, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Richard Lamar Baum, 49, from Broxton was also arrested for possession of drug related objects. All three appeared before the magistrate judge for their first appearance bond hearings. Nolan and Pace were denied bond and are currently incarcerated at the Coffee County Jail. Baum was released on bond pending…

At this time, we are not collecting the team fee, but we will inform you of this deadline soon. Team fees usually run around $120 for both of these teams. The archery team usually competes in the State 4-H Indoor Archery Match in Perry during mid-January. In front of a capacity crowd at Faircloth Field on Thursday the Lady Trojans honored the Class of 2021 with a 7-3 win over Bacon County. A huge night was in store for a few of the seniors in the win as senior Reagan Thomas broke the single season strikeout record in the first inning with eight strikeouts overall.
