The City of Douglas Water Department will begin flushing water lines on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 11:00pm and will continue through early Thursday morning, October 1, 2020, approximately 2:00am. Water lines that will be flushed will affect the Bojo Ella area, Eastside Park area, and Golf Club area. Water lines will remain flushing to clear any discolored water; however, some residual may be left Thursday morning. Contests for 4-H members include: Computer Graphic Design, Decorated Agricultural Products, Mini-booth Exhibit, Recycling, Terrarium/Dish Garden, Seed Art, Decorated Pumpkin, and a Family Scarecrow Contest. Mr. Joe Willie Giddens, age 78 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his home in Pearson, Ga. following a brief illness. Survivors include: Son: Ray D. Clement of Pearson, Ga. Mr. Arthur Andrew Rogers, Jr., age 77 of Douglas, passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Rogers was born July 13, 1943 to the late Arthur and Dorothy Rogers, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Rogers; a brother, Robert Rogers and a sister, Jane Taylor. Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Goad, age 71 of Douglas, passed away late Thursday night, September 24, 2020 at Irwin County Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Goad was born March 28, 1949 to the late Elmer James Goad and the late Alta Phipps Goad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Goad, Jr., a sister, Maggie Delorice Simpson and a grandson, Parker Michael Vetter.
