First Academy is pleased to recognize those students in 1st-10th grades who have earned academic honors for the Second Quarter of the 2020-21 school year. Students are recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being on the Honor Roll or Headmaster’s List. To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student must maintain an average of 90 or above per academic subject. On October 25, 2020, a theft was reported to Coffee County deputies. The complaint reported that he had loaned a Bushhog brand rotary mower to John Buchan approximately two years ago and that Buchan had sold the mower to another party without his consent. Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division located Buchan and questioned him about the mower. Buchan admitted to investigators that he had sold the mower without the owner’s permission. On October 28, 2020, a Coffee County K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 32 East and Legion Road for a broken windshield. A drug unit officer was in the area and had witnessed the driver of the vehicle make a drug transaction at a nearby carwash. The driver was identified as Joe Weathers. Weathers consented to a search of his person and as a result of that search a plastic bottle with suspected Alprazolam and Sublingual inside was seized. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has mailed ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (Wiregrass) and Valdosta State University (VSU) signed a new articulation agreement that will benefit the education field for years to come. The articulation agreement will allow graduates of the new Associates of Applied Science in Education Degree at Wiregrass to transfer 43 semester hours of core and 17 semester hours of early childhood courses to VSU either in Elementary Education or Middle Grade Education, depending on the concentration the students complete. “Valdosta State University has always been a great partner with Wiregrass Technical College.
