The Coffee County School Nutrition Program will continue participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for Free Meal Reimbursement during the 2020-2021 school year. Through this provision, all schools in Coffee County will offer meals at no charge to all students. This eliminates the need for free and reduced meal applications. Mr. Larry Eugene Highsmith, age 78, of Pearson, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Atkinson County, Mr. Highsmith was born in Brunswick on June 15, 1942, son of Murray Highsmith and Adeline McGovern. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from farming, Mr. Highsmith enjoyed socializing, going to the mountains, fishing, and watching old Western movies.
