A citrus leaf miner has four life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and the adult moth. The adult moth is most active in the morning and evening, but only live for one to two weeks. Emma Jane Chaplin Fine, age 75, of Seffner, Florida passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Sun City Rehabilitation Center, Sun City, Florida. Mrs. Fine was born on September 29, 1944 in Waycross, Georgia, the daughter of the late Vinson Kenneth Chaplin and Emma Jane Cribbs Chaplin. Mrs. Fine was a homemaker and worked as a hotel maid and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, Plant City, FL. Elnora Mobley Lott, age 94, of Alma, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Twin Oaks Convalescence Center, Alma, Georgia. Mrs. Lott was born on March 24, 1926 in Folkston, Georgia, the daughter of the late Leonard Monroe Mobley and Hortence Wilcox Mobley. Mrs. Autumn Desiree’ Johnson, age 20 of Douglas, passed away, Sunday, June 14, 2020, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The Satilla River is a celebrated asset in the many communities it touches as it flows from its headwaters near Fitzgerald to the coast south of Jekyll Island. It is woven into the fabric of our culture, and contributes to our quality of life. Local student Hunter Jenkins was recently awarded a full college scholarship from the Pilgrim’s Douglas complex as part of the company’s Tomorrow Fund program. The Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund supports team members and direct dependents pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree, an accredited vocational technical certification or an associate’s degree. Award recipients are able to participate in a mentorship program and will be extended internship offers for the summer at Pilgrim’s locations across the country. A few years ago, our 7th and 8th grade 4-H members competing in the muffins project had to follow a new muffin recipe called Harvest Muffins. So I thought I would share that recipe with you this week. The ingredients call for 1 can (14 ½ ounces no salt added) sliced carrots, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 egg, 1/3 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup sugar, 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ¼ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, and 24 muffin liners (or use non-stick spray).
