Lola Virginia Warnock, age 86, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Lakeside Senior Living. Mrs. Warnock was born on January 21, 1934 in Coffee County, Georgia the daughter of the late John Wesley Johnson and Mary Katherine Mercier Johnson. Mrs. Warnock worked as a bookkeeper with Griffin Warehouse and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Warnie Wilson; two sisters, Laura Lambert and Geneva Giger; and one brother, Ken Johnson. The Douglas-Coffee County Land Bank (LBA) sold its first house on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. The new owner will renovate the home so that it will be available for rent as soon as possible. Designed to acquire and maintain problem properties, the LBA will transfer the properties back to responsible ownership and productive/revenue generating use in our community which will create a more efficient and effective system to eliminate problem areas/blight in Douglas and Coffee County.
