Mr. Richard Kevin Grantham, age 50 of Douglas, passed away late Friday evening, May 8, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Attorney General Chris Carr Sunday formally requested the U.S. Department of Justice, led by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia Bobby Christine, to conduct an investigation into the handling of the Ahmaud Arbery case. This case involves the deadly shooting Mr. Arbery in Glynn County, Georgia on February 23, 2020 within the Brunswick Judicial Circuit. On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, the GBI’s Douglas Regional Office received a request from the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a death investigation. On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at approximately 6:52 a.m., Bacon County 911 received a call that a body was found at 144 Marigold Ln., Alma, Ga. Deputies arrived at the location and found William K. Graham, 34, deceased. Deputies were unable to determine an immediate cause of death. Officers from the Douglas Police Department arrested one subject and recovered a quantity of drugs, money, and a weapon Tuesday morning. On May 5, 2020 officers with the City of Douglas Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Brooks Avenue.
