The South Georgia Tech Jets grabbed a quick, early lead against South Georgia State College Saturday afternoon during Sophomore Day in Waycross and didn’t surrender the lead for the remainder of the game. The Jets defeated the Hawks 60-54. South Georgia Tech opened the game with an 11-2 scoring run and built a 30-16 lead with 5:30 left in the first half. Mrs. Thurman was born August 1, 1935 to the late Cecil Grantham and the late Doris Carter Grantham. Cathalene Taylor, age 83, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Taylor was born on November 2, 1936 in Buena Vista, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charlie Victor Dobbs and the late Sarah Elizabeth Parks Dobbs. Mrs. Taylor was retired head teller from Farmers Bank (Trust Company) and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School (4 and 5 year olds) for forty-eight years.
