City offering façade loan program to downtown businesses The City of Douglas Community Development Department and Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is offering a Façade Revolving Loan Program. The purpose of the Facade Revolving Loan Fund is to lend assistance to downtown properties by providing low interest loans for improving the visual image of the property in the hopes of creating commercial redevelopment, thus enhancing the downtown district. EVE celebrates new ownership with ribbon cutting The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon cutting at EVE, a well-known women’s boutique located in downtown Douglas since 2004. In 2019, Coffee County native Blair Brawner made a decision to return to Douglas to launch her own women’s boutique. She recently became the new owner of EVE and completed an amazing renovation. Emelia Brown and Joella Carver of Eastside Elementary fifth grade, took third place at the Cloverleaf Cupcake Masters contest on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Georgia National Fair in Perry. The girls decided on a team name of “Sassy Southern Sweets” and named their cupcake design “Prized Pumpkin.” There was a lengthy list of rules for the contest.
