The Coffee Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College would like to announce the December GED graduates. Those completing their GED include: Santana Chavez, Rocio Flores, Caitlin Harrell, Alfonso Martinez, Abby Story, Caroline Streat, Terrell Styles, Cristal Valle, and Jessica Velez. The Adult Education Program at Wiregrass Tech is currently accepting new students into the GED classes. All GED classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) are free. First Academy is pleased to recognize those students in 1st-8th grades who have earned academic honors for the second quarter of the 2018-19 school year. Students are recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being on the Honor Roll or Headmaster’s List. To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student must maintain an average of 90 or above per academic subject. To qualify for the Headmaster’s List, a student must maintain an average of 95 or above per academic subject. Biblical comprehension is included as an academic subject beginning in the second grade. Cecil A. Dukes, age 71, of Clewiston, Florida, passed away on Monday January 7, 2019 at Hendry Medical Center, Clewiston, Florida. Mr. Dukes was born on March 20, 1947 in Alma, the son of the late Otis F. Dukes and Nellie Godwin Dukes. He worked as a correctional officer for the Florida Department of Corrections and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Dukes was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Dukes Rudd; son, Jeremy Dukes; three brothers, Dean Dukes, James Dukes and Murrell Dukes; and a sister, Janice Deen.…
Imagine you’ve invested countless hours sitting in lectures, completing assignments, attending clinicals, learning in labs, and studying only to learn that you have one more semester left and due to financial reasons you don’t feel you can finish. The HOPE grant covers only 70 percent of tuition and fees and nothing for books. Often, students find themselves with a balance as they draw near the time of graduation. A potential game-tying three-point shot by South Georgia State College’s Keyshaun Street hit the back of the rim and fell away as time expired, giving the Andrew College Tigers a 74-71 win Wednesday night in Waycross. Mr. Doyle Wayne Adams, age 51 of Douglas, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 1, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Southside in Jacksonville following an extended illness. Mr. Adams was born November 21, 1967 to the late Dwight Wayne Adams and Mrs. Betty Jo English Adams Lee. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Anderson.
