Ignacio Bardomiano, age 86, of Douglas, passed away on Thursday December 20, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Bardomiano was born on May 2, 1932 in Acupulco, Mexico the son of Bardomiano and Maria DeJesus. He worked as a farmer and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Douglas. A fourth person pled guilty in federal court this week on charges stemming from a phone scam operation originating in Douglas in 2016. Vince Plumb pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in U.S. District Court in Waycross and is expected to be sentenced within the next month. The case stems from a 2016 investigation that began when Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten received information that a scam operation was possibly being conducted at 904 North Madison Avenue in Douglas. On Thursday, December 13, during the regular monthly meeting of the Coffee County Board of Education, the school board unanimously voted to name the new performing arts center after long time Coffee High administrator Clayton Mathis. The auditorium of the center will be named after John M. Maley, who served as the band director from 1964-1985.
