Our precious daughter, Summer Cheyenne Pittman, went to be home with Jesus on Sunday, January 13, 2019. She is survived by her loving parents, Leonne and Amanda Pittman; older brother, Skyler; younger brother, Peyton; and little sister, Peylyn. Joseph Melvin Fletcher, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday January 13, 2019, as a result of a bout with double pneumonia on top of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer he had survived for ten years. Mr. Fletcher was born and raised in Douglas, son of the late Dewey and Linnie Fletcher and grandson of Esterlee Jowers, who loved and lent his name to the well-known Jowers Chapel in Coffee County. Students are recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being on the Honor Roll or Headmaster’s List. Cecil A. Dukes, age 71, of Clewiston, Florida, passed away on Monday January 7, 2019 at Hendry Medical Center, Clewiston, Florida. Mr. Dukes was born on March 20, 1947 in Alma, the son of the late Otis F. Dukes and Nellie Godwin Dukes. He worked as a correctional officer for the Florida Department of Corrections and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Dukes was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Dukes Rudd; son, Jeremy Dukes; three brothers, Dean Dukes, James Dukes and Murrell Dukes; and a sister, Janice Deen.…
Imagine you’ve invested countless hours sitting in lectures, completing assignments, attending clinicals, learning in labs, and studying only to learn that you have one more semester left and due to financial reasons you don’t feel you can finish. The HOPE grant covers only 70 percent of tuition and fees and nothing for books. Often, students find themselves with a balance as they draw near the time of graduation.
