Mrs. Angela Marie Anderson Batten, age 61 of Ambrose, passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Batten was born March 27, 1957 to the late Burnell Anderson and Ruby Hall Anderson. Mrs. Batten was a native of Coffee County. Angela was a loving and caring person who enjoyed life. She was a co-owner of Batten Tractor and Merle Norman Cosmetics. Angela attended First Baptist Church. Survivors include: Husband: Ronnie M. Fannie Ruth Roberson, age 78, of Nicholls, passed away on Monday October 29, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Roberson was born on July 19, 1940 in Douglas, the daughter of the late Fred Merritt and Ethel Vickers Merritt. She worked as a private sitter and was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Merritt and a brother, Olan Merritt. Mrs. Innes was born on September 8, 1929 in Atkinson County, the daughter of the late Clifford Alva Hodges and Pearlie Lott Hodges. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College and Ace Electric, Inc. have partnered together once again. At the college’s advisory committee meeting, Ace Electric, Inc. company founders Tom and Bobby Stalvey presented the college with a check for $25,000. Both company founders are Valdosta Technical Institute alumni. The donation will support the newly created Commercial Electrical Construction Technology classroom. The City of Douglas and Transwaste are offering two junk drop-off days in November – Nov. 3 and Nov. 17 at the City Pole Yard located at Pearl Avenue from 8 a.m.-noon. A dumpster will be placed the City Pole Yard, located on Pearl Avenue, to offer Douglas residents a way to dispose of large, non-hazardous items and electronic items at no cost.
