Sharon Powell McKinnon, age 59, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. McKinnon was born on April 27, 1959 in Douglas, the daughter of the late June Talley Powell and Millie Jane Stapleton Powell. Mrs. McKinnon worked as a dredge boat operator with Choo Choo Dredging and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Coffee County detectives have a secured an arrest warrant for 29-year-old convicted sex offender Howard Jakoderick Townsend for failing to maintain the requirements of his sex offender status. Detectives have determined Townsend is no longer residing at the address he registered with this agency and has absconded. Townsend is described as a black male, approximately 6’2″, with black hair and brown eyes.
