Reba Marie Creamer, age 18, of Douglas, passed away on Saturday September 8, 2018 from injuries sustain in an automobile accident. Reba was born on January 19, 2000 in Douglas, the daughter of Julia Rebecca Anderson of Douglas. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Teel. James Daniel Brown, Jr, age 71, of Douglas, passed away on Friday September 7, 2018 at Community Hospice, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Brown was born on September 28, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of the late James Daniel Brown, Sr. and Lorita Virginia Jones Brown. Mr. Brown worked as an electrician in the United States Navy retiring after twenty-one years of service. Last weekend, thousands of visitors flocked to Douglas for the ninth year in a row during the South Georgia BBQ & Outdoor Festival. With 44 BBQ teams, 50 vendors, and special attractions, organizers estimate that approximately 4,000 people visited the festival during the two day period. “These teams and visitors love Douglas. Thanks to having some leftover donation money from its Summer Reading programs, Satilla Regional Library System will have a monthly program on the third Saturday of the month at 12 noon in Douglas and 2:30 p.m. alternately at the libraries of Pearson and Willacoochee. The library will continue this until the funds run out or the system finds alternative funding. The first program will be Center for Wildlife Education from Georgia Southern University on Saturday, September 15 at 12 noon at Satilla Regional Library in Douglas and 2:30 p.m. at the Willacoochee Public Library in Willacoochee.
