Martha Ann Phinazee born in Cairo, Georgia on November 8, 1945, earned her wings on June 24, 2018, after a brave battle. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters: Desir’ee Phinazee Womack (Todd Womack) and Teresa Ann Phinazee; granddaughter, Sullivan RaeAnn Phinazee; furbaby, Buford Phinazee live to carry on her legacy. Martha was often found gardening, loving her furbabies, helping children grow and caring for special needs adults. As a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, she was quick to provide couch coaching. She jumped at every opportunity to walk the beach to collect shells and sharks teeth.…

Ameris Bank employees were recently surprised when opening on Thursday, June 13, as Mr. Buddy Gilliard, Director of Transportation for the County School System, greeted the staff with warm, homemade cinnamon rolls from the school nutrition department. During the spring of the past school year, one of the districts school buses was involved in a minor traffic accident while transporting students home. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit arrested a 66-year-old suspected cocaine dealer late Friday afternoon after detectives discovered quantities of the drug, along with other illegal narcotics, at his residence. Drug agents received information that Columbus Drummond of Nicholls was dealing drugs out of his Sessoms Avenue home and investigated. Drummond was located at the residence Friday afternoon, June 22, 2018, but denied that he resided at the location. Detectives made contact with the home owner, who confirmed that Drummond was living at the home and provided detectives with consent to search the premises. The week was filled with new adventures for campers like canoeing, seining in the ocean, walking in the marsh, riding bicycles around the island, and for some, their first time spending four nights away from their parents.
