Peggy B. Davis, age 67, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was born on December 1, 1950, the daughter of the late William Lankford Brantley and Lena Mae Rawlins Brantley Vickers. She retired from PCC after 31 years of service and attended Saving Grace Ministries. At the banquet, students were fed and honored for their achievements throughout the year. The George Washington Carver Freshman Campus (GWCFC) chapter received several awards throughout the night. The Douglas Fire Department is happy to announce the promotion of Brantley Anderson to Fire Inspector. In 1997, Anderson entered the Fire Department as a firefighter and has held various leadership positions such as Lieutenant and Shift Captain. Chief Wilson states, “The decision was made by management in view of his support for the department during the 21 years that he has served with the Douglas Fire Department.” As Fire Inspector, Anderson will handle downtown business inspections and fire prevention education for the citizens of Douglas.

At the regular Douglas Mayor’s Youth Council on Thursday, May 17, 2018, the DYMC recognized the youngest member of the Chamber of Commerce, Zipporiah Wilcox. Ms. Wilcox utilizes her Christian faith to promote “girl power” among young ladies throughout the community. A designer of t-shirts and jewelry, Ms. Wilcox plans to expand her business to include faith-based items for young men. “Ms. Wilcox is a very good example of youth in our community and their leadership qualities,” says Mayor Tony Paulk. “I am sure we will see some great things from this young entrepreneur in the future.”
The Board of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development announces Coffee County graduates from the 2018 Region 11 Multi-Day Training Program. Class participants represented a number of professional and non-professional economic development fields, including elected officials, public servants, business leaders, educators, and social service providers from 18 counties in South Central Georgia.
