Coffee County deputies have arrested Kenneth McCrimmon, 63, on murder charges after an autopsy revealed that foul play was involved in the death of his wife, Jennifer McCrimmon, who was found dead on Dec. 26, 2017. On Dec. 26, 2017, at 7:48 a.m., Coffee County deputies were dispatched to 1168 Truelove Road in reference to a possible deceased person. Upon arrival at the location, Kenneth Wayne McCrimmon told deputies that he had found his wife, Jennifer McCrimmon, lying in the floor not breathing and cold to the touch. City of Douglas/Coffee County Land Bank Authority committee members and city officials traveled to Thomasville on Thursday, March 22, 2018. The purpose of the trip was to see how the Thomasville-Thomas County Land Bank Authority functions and how they utilize funding for projects. While in Thomasville, the group also toured the Main Street District and Thomasville Main Street Manager, April Norton, shared some of their successful projects for downtown.
The Nature Conservancy will hold its annual Broxton Rocks Easter Open House on Sunday, April 1 from 12:30–4:30 p.m. This annual event brings approximately 100-200 visitors to Coffee County. Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and discover a natural wonder here in Coffee County. Five members of Coffee High Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA, March 23-25, 2018. Members competed in various events and attended leadership workshops. Students attending competition at Region Conference earned the right to attend State. First Academy will host its first annual Talent Showcase this Thursday, March 29th at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary. First Academy is a ministry of First Baptist Church by educating the next generation in a biblical sound environment. The name of the showcase is B.A.S.I.C., meaning Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Diana Tanner, Executive Director, Lakeside Senior Living and Desiree Womack, Activity Director, Lakeside Senior Living, were the speakers at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. Mrs. Tanner spoke about the history of Lakeside Senior Living and how it came to be. Mrs. Womack spoke about the activities offered at Lakeside Senior Living, the facilities that are available and the need for more volunteers. The theme is “4-H Survivor” and the weekend’s activities will include a fun time at the beach with friends from all over Southeast District!
