James Gordon Schuettler, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at CRMC. Mr. Schuettler was born on October 26, 1936, in West Palm Beach, FL to the late Gordon James Schuettler and Alice Florence Schuettler. Mr. Schuettler was a self-employed carpenter and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Robert Jerry Anderson, age 70 of Douglas, passed away, Thursday morning, March 15, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit arrested three individuals involved in illegal prescription drug trade following a surveillance operation earlier this week. On March 19, 2018, agents were conducting an operation in the area of S. Gaskin Ave. and E. Cherry St. in Douglas. Agents observed two males, identified as 60-year-old John H. Merritt, Jr. and 62-year-old Walter Gene Outler, enter the area and exchange money and suspected controlled prescription medications with another individual, later identified as 62-year-old Bertha Mae Reynolds. Trace is a sophomore at South Georgia State College (SGSC) majoring in Health and Human Performance and is a member of the SGSC Hawks men’s swim team which recently earned runner-up in the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championship. The Broxton Police Department, under new interim chief Scott Harper, has made several significant arrests recently, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs and weapons. During a traffic stop, Broxton officers arrested Elijah Crockett Jr. and charged him with five counts of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and one count of possession of marijuana. Officers also stopped to help motorists who appeared to be having car trouble. Their troubles eventually involved a lot more than a broken down vehicle.
