Monday morning, March 26, the Alma Police Department arrested Roderick Williams, 34 of Alma, on outstanding warrants. Williams’ arrest followed a complaint of suspicious activity near FNB South. Monday afternoon, March 26, APD responded to a fight on E. 12th St. Keyana Davis, 20 of Nicholls, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Charles S. Roberts Sr., age 79, of Douglas, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Vista Park. Mr. Roberts was born on December 7, 1938, in Douglas, GA to the late John W. The Broxton Police Department has been busy over the last week. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College had an excellent showing at the SkillsUSA State Championship in Atlanta this past weekend. The college brought back 15 gold, 11 silver and seven bronze medals in the skills competition among other colleges. The college medaled in 21 out of 31 contests for those with Wiregrass competitors. Among the gold medal count is the Chapter of Distinction Gold level award. On Saturday, March 24, 2018, Coffee Regional Medical Center took the lead in the area of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Readiness by hosting the Medical Association of Georgia’s first physician-led Medical Reserve Corp, the state’s first unit of volunteer physicians who are trained to respond to declared emergencies in Georgia. Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jim Barber along with CRMC staff, coordinated the training for the approximate 15 local physicians as well as many others . Pattie Parker (Douglas Main Street Coordinator) held a Main Street merchant meeting on March 13, 2018. The quarterly meeting allows merchants to meet and share ideas. Discussion was held about forming a Merchant’s Association as a way for the Main Street merchants to come together and support each other with events that would draw people to downtown Douglas.
