The Wiregrass Reader, a literary journal published by Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, has won multiple awards for its format, content and presentation in the American Scholastic Press Association’s Annual Scholastic Yearbook and Magazine Awards. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is requesting submissions for its tenth annual literary journal, The Wiregrass Reader, which will be published Fall Semester 2018. Submissions are accepted in the following categories: poetry, short stories, personal narratives, arguments/analyses, and photography. Please submit works through email with an attached file. In one of the wildest games ever to be played in Waycross, the South Georgia State College Hawks punched their ticket Tuesday night to the GCAA semifinals by holding off the Gordon State Highlanders 114-105. The large home crowd was treated to a show of up-tempo, high scoring college basketball as the two teams combined to hit a total of 40 three-pointers (53 percent). The leadership of the Douglas-Coffee County Economic Development Authority(EDA) recently launched a nationwide search for a president/chief executive officer to serve as the lead business location marketer for the community. The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association has announced seeding for the conference’s Men’s Basketball Tournament. South Georgia State College (22-8, 11-5) will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will host the No. 7 seed Gordon State Highlanders Tuesday night, March 6 at 7 p.m. on the Waycross Campus. General admission to the game will be five dollars, and children five and under are admitted free. SGSC regular season basketball passes will be honored.
