The competition was held at the Blackshear Elementary School and hosted by the PC STEAM team. Jacob Moore, Forester/Nursery Manager, Forestate Growers LLC, was the speaker at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting of Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant. In this competition, students must correctly perform the opening and closing ceremonies of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and demonstrate their knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure. South Georgia State College’s men’s basketball team overcame a poor shooting night to defeat the Central Georgia Tech Titans 76-69 in GCAA conference play Wednesday night. The Hawks (17-6, 6-3) made only 12 baskets in the first half (32 percent) and still led 36-33 at halftime. South Georgia State College (SGSC) stole the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Tallahassee Community College (TCC) on Saturday. The game was tied at three with the Hawks battling in the top of the eleventh inning when Blake Brito’s sacrifice fly scored one run. Jake Bryan led the hitting for the Hawks with two hits in four at bats. Cole Escher, KC Brown, Jacob Giles and Blake Brito each contributed one hit during the game.
