The City of Douglas and Transwaste are offering residential Junk Drop-Off Days, once a month, to help Douglas residential customers discard excess trash. The upcoming date will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at the City Pole Yard located at Pearl Avenue from 8 a.m.- Noon. A dumpster will be placed the City Pole Yard, located on Pearl Avenue, to offer residents a way to dispose of large, non-hazardous items and electronic items at no cost. The City of Douglas Public Information Department continues to accept registrations for the annual Festival of Lights Christmas Parade through Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 at 4 p.m. Citizens need to be aware of some changes with parade start time, rule changes and where the parade will end this year. The Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Paulk Plaza on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 25 at 917 Gaskin Avenue South.
