A pair of alleged meth-dealing women are behind bars at the Coffee County Jail following a lengthy investigation by local drug agents. Around noon, Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, detectives with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit (DCDU) ended a two-month investigation that resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Krystel Merritt of Douglas. On Aug. 4, 2017, a Coffee County K-9 deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Christina Maria Lott of Douglas, for a traffic violation. Coffee County Schools will be conducting their Substitute Teacher Workshop on Thursday, September 21, 8 a.m.–noon at the Board of Education office, 1311 South Peterson Avenue. This date replaces the original date of September 13 that was cancelled due to inclement weather and power outages. Attendance for the workshop will be based on those individuals who originally registered prior to September 13. What good could two men, dressed in black and lurking around a package store in the early morning hours, possibly be doing? Probably not much. This was the scene around 4:30 a.m. Friday when a Coffee County patrol deputy observed two individuals outside Bag’s Package Store off U.S. Highway 221 North in the Oak Park community.
