Coffee County sheriff’s authorities have arrested a 23-year-old Douglas man on aggravated assault and other charges after responding to a report of shots fired at a residence in the Green Acres community Sunday afternoon. Deputies responded to a home on Beechwood Rd. around 7:30 a.m., July 23, after receiving a 911 report in which the caller alleged he had been shot and assaulted. Deputies arrived on the scene and detained several individuals standing outside the residence before entering to clear the home. The victim was located inside the residence. A date has been set for the 35th high school class reunion. It will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, at The Social Club, 1846 S. Peterson Ave, Douglas, GA. The first was a day trip to the Ichetucknee Springs State Park in Ft. White, Florida, on Wednesday, July 12th. This state park offers an opportunity to tube down a slow moving spring water river. The park has three locations to put in the river and two take out points. They also offer swimming in the two springs that form the river. Everyone enjoyed this activity. The City of Douglas is seeking a citizen who is willing to offer their time to serve on the Historic Preservation Committee. The City Code stipulates that all members must reside in the City of Douglas and shall be persons who have demonstrated special interest,experience, or education in history, architecture or the preservation of historic resources.
