A woman booked into the Coffee County Jail early Saturday morning is facing drug trafficking charges after Coffee County jail officers discovered she was concealing ¼ lb. of cocaine and 25 ecstasy tablets in her wig. Delenea Camille Jones was arrested around 4 a.m. Saturday on drug possession and distribution charges by a law enforcement agency in an adjoining county and transported to the Coffee County Jail for housing. A 31-year-old Nicholls man was jailed on drug distribution and weapons charges Thursday after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence. Detectives with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit, along with Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputies and K-9 Officers, and the Nicholls Police Department executed the warrant at the home of Charles Eugene Palmer, 907 Pine Street, Nicholls, just prior to 6 p.m. on June 22. As a result of the search, authorities discovered over two ounces of marijuana, marijuana packaging materials, digital scales, firearms, and ammunition. A man wanted on child cruelty and battery against a pregnant female charges stemming from an incident earlier this week turned himself in to Coffee County authorities Friday morning. Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 135 and Red McKinnon Road just prior to 3 p.m., June 18, in reference to a male beating a female and dragging her out of a car. Deputies made contact with the 29-year-old victim at the scene, who was walking northbound on 135 at the time. First Congregational Christian Church’s Vacation Bible School raised $1,500 for Camp 151. A fun competition between the girls and boys raised $950; the church made a donation to bring the total contribution to $1,500. Camp 151 uses all of the money donated to buy materials for home repairs for local elderly and single-parent homes. These volunteers are examples of “Super Heroes” (the VBS theme for 2017) used by God to serve others, and they will be working in the Douglas area June 25-30. Ron Morris, a local cyclist, competed in four different events in the Senior Games (formerly Senior Olympics) in Birmingham, Ala., earlier this month. Morris, who began racing only three years ago, was the qualifier in Georgia for the 10k time trial, the 5k time trials, the 20k road race and the 40k road race. Over 4,000 volunteers helped put on the Games in Birmingham. Seniors from throughout the United States and several other countries competed in such sports as volleyball, softball, basketball, speed walking, triathlon and several others. A registered sex offender residing in Coffee County was jailed by sheriff’s investigators Tuesday after failing to comply with the requirements of his sex offender status. 50-year-old Randy Flanagan was convicted of sexual exploitation of a child in Turner County, Ga. following a 2006 incident. He was subsequently released from incarceration in 2011, but served another sentence for failing to register as a sex offender between 2013 and 2016. Flanagan had registered his most recent address at a residence on Madison Ave. in Douglas, but Coffee County detectives learned he had moved from that address nearly a month ago without…
