Ms. Laverne Spivey Wright Mercer Smith, age 82, of Douglas, GA passed away Saturday morning, June 10, 2017 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, following a brief illness. Ms. Smith was born October 15, 1934 to the late Jerry Spivey and the late Grace Whitley Spivey. Mr. James David Sayer, age 72, of Ambrose passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Tift Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Sayer was born October 10, 1944, in Douglas to Rev. Jimmie Sayer and the late Dorothy Harper Sayer of Ambrose. He was a graduate of Broxton High School and received the first agriculture scholarship awarded by The Farmers Bank.
