Coffee County sheriff’s authorities are attempting to locate a juvenile who has been missing since Friday. Saphia Reed, 14, was last seen in the area of Donnie Harper Road around 7:30 p.m. on July 14. She is a black female, approximately 5’3″, 135 lbs., and was wearing dark blue jeans and a flannel shirt at the time of her disappearance. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ms. Reed is asked to contact the Coffee County E-911 Center directly or the non-emergency line at (912) 384 7675.

Coffee County detectives have arrested a 19-year-old Douglas man responsible for an Independence Day armed robbery at a local convenience store. A white male entered the Aden’s Minit Market on U.S. Hwy. 221 North around 10 p.m., July 4, brandished a firearm, and fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Coffee County authorities, along with K-9 Units from Ware State Prison and Georgia State Patrol officials, responded to the scene, but were unable to locate the offender at the time. A 24-year-old Douglas man was jailed for cocaine distribution and other multiple felonies earlier this week after authorities initially responded to a report of an altercation at a local residence. Douglas police were dispatched to a home on Dewey Ave. last Sunday, July 9, in regards to two men allegedly engaged in a physical altercation involving firearms. As officers approached, one person fled the scene of foot. Officers observed an individual identified as Brandon Carter run into the residence and attempt to exit soon thereafter. Monday, July 10, the Alma Police Department arrested Infinity Ford for Financial Card Transaction Fraud. Ford’s arrest resulted from an incident which occurred in January. Ford was located by Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department and arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Jennifer Williams, a resident of Douglas, recently graduated from Ultimate Medical Academy’s Health and Human Services program. Williams had already earned her bachelor’s degree in Sports and Fitness, but she was struggling to enter the healthcare field. The Georgia Department of Transportation is hosting a public information open house July 13 so citizens can view plans to replace three state Route 32 bridges between Douglas and Nicholls. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the public is invited to drop by Nicholls City Hall, 707 Van Streat Highway, to view plans and ask questions about the proposed projects. There will not be a formal presentation. Georgia DOT plans to replace SR 32 bridges at 17 Mile River and Otter Creek east of Douglas and Bear Creek west of Nicholls.
