A Coffee County couple was jailed Thursday morning after a local woman punched her boyfriend in the face in response to him dousing her with vinegar. Deputies responded to a residence off Leavens Road just prior to 10 a.m., May 11, 2017, in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant, 18-year-old Sierra Sheyenne English, stated her and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Ricardo Marquez, had initially gotten into a verbal dispute over finances. The Southern Georgia Executive Committee of Local Chief Elected Officials recently selected Andrea Taylor, President of the Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority, to serve as a member of the Southern Georgia Workforce Development Board (WDB) for Workforce Development Area 18/Region 11. The Southern Georgia area includes the counties of Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Clinch, Charlton, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Pierce, Tift, Turner and Ware. The advisors and officers of the Coffee Middle School Builders Club were the guest speakers at the Douglas Kiwanis Club meeting of Tuesday the 9th of May at the Flyin’ Cowboy restaurant.
