Mrs. Lorene “Tince” Wright, age 91, of Douglas, passed away Monday evening, March 20, 2017, at Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness. She was born January 10, 1926 to the late J. C. Wright and the late Mattie Nipper Wright. Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Russell Wright, an infant daughter, Myrtle Wright and a brother, Joe Wright. Robert James Queen Royal, 40, of Douglas, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017 at Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home. Mr. Royal was born in Augusta, GA, August 26, 1976 to Thomas Miller Royal, Sr. and Linda Worth Royal. Mr. Royal had lived in Douglas for the past 23 years. Brandon Levi Williams was convicted today by a jury of his peers for the murder of Kavozia Walker that occurred on February 19, 2016. The trial began on Tuesday, March 21 and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John Rumker. The main evidence against Williams came in the form of security footage taken from the apartment complex where the murder occurred. This footage showed Kavozia Walker attempting to break up a fight between two individuals. While Walker was tussling with a combatant, Brandon Williams retrieved his handgun from his vehicle. Coffee County drug investigators have arrested a 28-year-old Douglas man on distribution charges after he was caught selling ecstasy in a local restaurant parking lot. Detectives with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit received an anonymous tip that a possible drug transaction was taking place in the Burger King parking lot on the north end of Douglas. Detectives arrived at the scene and, after several minutes of surveillance, observed a black vehicle driven by Irwin Wright pull into the parking lot.
