Operation Christmas Child is a charity started by Samaritan’s Purse in which people pack shoeboxes full of gifts. The shoeboxes are then given to less fortunate children who likely would not be getting a Christmas gift other than the shoebox they receive. The organization’s purpose is to show God’s love in every gift given out. This past week, some students from George Washington Carver Freshman Campus wanted to demonstrate that love as well. The GWCFC Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Future Business Leaders of…

Not many people can say they have been able to attend a surprise birthday party for a person turning 100 years old. On Saturday, Jan. 7, family and friends of Evelyn Weniger did just that. At 100 years old, the lady affectionately known as “Mom Weniger” is still active in her Reedy Branch Church, playing the organ at every service. She enjoys her daily walks and she loves her Lord. Happy Birthday, Mom Weniger, from all of your family and friends! – Submitted
Take a moment, close your eyes, and imagine that you are in the year 1993– a faraway place where the band Nirvana was topping the charts, the Toronto Blue Jays were the winners of the World Series, Bill Clinton had just been elected, and coding a computer was absolutely necessary. Lucky for us, technology has come a long way in the last few decades. Thankfully, we don’t have to go through this grueling programming process today in order to create something as simple as a website. However, computer coding and programming is still of significant importance today; it is just…

The “See Something, Say Something” campaign can be used for issues other than crime reporting. Citizens are encouraged to report discolored/rusty water, “smelly” water, potholes, electrical outages, water leaks, and other related areas of concern. “We hope that citizens will report needed repairs to the city,” say City Manager Terrell Jacobs. ‘See Something, Say Something,’ goes beyond law enforcement related activities. If your water is discolored or smells, a street light is out, a large pothole is on your street, or if you notice a water leak, we want you to report it to us so we can make the…
