The South Georgia State College Hawks survived a close first half to pull away for a 112-80 win over the Faith Baptist Post Graduate Crusaders Wednesday night. The win extends the Hawks (12-2) current winning streak to five games. It was a night where it seemed neither team could miss a shot, especially in the first half. The Douglas Police Department is offering a Citizens Police Academy course that will begin Thursday, February 2. Class hours will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday night through March 23. Participants do not have to be a resident of Douglas to attend this course. It is open to anyone over 18 years of age. Registration deadline is January 27, 2017. First Academy is pleased to recognize those students in grades 1-5 who have earned academic honors for the second quarter of the 2016-17 school year. Students are recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being on the Honor Roll or Headmaster’s List.
