Every year, several Lowe’s stores partner with their local community organizations to promote and help the communities they serve. For three consecutive years, local Lowe’s employees have volunteered their time and the program has funded remodeling projects for the Boys & Girls Club of Coffee County Region. During the first year Al Silver, Lowe’s manager, and his team of Lowe’s Heroes were able to provide a pavilion and built picnic tables. The Chicken Livers & Gizzards festival will be held on Hwy 441 in Broxton on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The festival will begin at the stoplight and end at the tree of knowledge. Local American Legion Post, 18 and 515, brings Wreaths Across America to veterans of Coffee County. The wreath ceremony will take place at Douglas City Cemetery on December 16, 2017, at Noon. The goal of Post 515 is to place a wreath on every veteran’s grave across the county. Each year, citizens of the community are encouraged to support veterans in December by placing a flag and wreath on every veteran’s grave in Coffee County. The Medicine Cabinet, which was named the 2015 small business of the year, offers a free vitamin program for children grades pre-k through fifth grade. The program allows for any child to receive a free bottle of vitamins once a month. Scott Meeks, owner of The Medicine Cabinet, and staff wants every child to be healthy and happy.
