On the morning of January 2, 2026, the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, along with the Patrol Division and assistance from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, executed a search warrant at a residence within the city of Fitzgerald. The residence is located in the 600 block of North Lee Street and is within 1,000 feet of a public park where children and families frequently gather to play and spend time together.
The search warrant was the result of an ongoing drug distribution investigation conducted by the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division.
As a result of this investigation, 10 subjects were arrested on drug-related charges. One subject attempted to flee upon the arrival of law enforcement but was quickly taken into custody before leaving the property.
During the execution of the search warrant, deputies recovered approximately 25.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 20.5 grams of suspected fentanyl, 11.8 grams of suspected cocaine, and multiple Schedule pills. Additionally, multiple items used for the packaging and weighing of drugs for distribution were located.
Charges range from trafficking in fentanyl; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine; possession of tools for the commission of a crime; possession of various controlled substances; and possession of drug-related objects.
This investigation remains ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
